Just came back from Montréal and Québec City to see family and friends. Always a long trip but oh so necessary to my mental health. My sister works hard, my mom is cracking jokes and making me laugh, things are good. Julie gave me a bottle in which you can infuse using fruits, mint, tea, anything you wish. I am trying with lemon, it's yummy. As I came back, I realised that although I live far from my family in Québec and my family in southern Ontario, I like it over here. It's beautiful, people are invested in the activities linked to nature here. They have their quiet life and I like them. They're not very cultured outside of what's readily recognizable or popular like musical comedies, like My Fair Lady, and Aladdin and paintings of "ducks and docks" but it's ok. I am thinking about my projects for the summer. I am going to be working on a grant proposal for a francophone grant. I have also submitted some work for an exhibit in Desbarrats, the Sustain Algoma Expo. I will hear soon if I was selected or not to submit work. I am working on fixing my cow paintings that I painted last summer and that I left in the backyard to be changed by the weather. The natural elements being a collaborator in my work. I just got some clear varnish and I will also build a frame for it. I am also going to start a French journal personel. A personal podcast in French to keep my French fluid, which I will post here. I thought of calling it: Boite VOQale. For "version originale québécois" (VOQ.) For the past few weeks, I have been helping with the founding of new and exciting ventures at the Arts Council. I also am looking forward to making some cow paintings! Lots of good things coming this summer.
Today I worked on a project I am not quite sure what I will name. There is a Basque Dancer drawing, strings, a louver, silicone caulking, little straws I found at Value Village. I want to include sound with the piece and a disco light. I am hoping for it to be fun!
